360 degree rotating excavator training course – Below 10 Tonnes
Tailored for businesses aiming to upskill their workforce, this program equips your employees with the necessary competencies to operate excavators with a below 10 tonne excavating capacity safely and effectively, in line with industry standards.
A below 10 tonnes, 360 degree rotating excavator, commonly referred to as a mini digger, is a compact piece of construction equipment. It features a rotating platform, an articulated arm, and a bucket, capable of a full 360-degree rotation. These excavators are capable of lifting, moving, or digging up to 10 tonnes and are essential for material handling in confined or limited-access sites.
This course is a 5-day program with comprehensive training covering both theory and practical training.
For experienced operators, a shorter duration course focusing on assessment and refinement of existing skills is available.
Operate the mini excavator safely and productively
Carry out minor adjustments and routine servicing procedures
Follow all necessary safety precautions
Work to levels with the aid of laser equipment
Practical Tests
Theory tests
Fit and operate ancillary equipment
Understand the capabilities, purposes and limitations of each machine
Interpret the information provided by level pegs and profiles
CPCS theory & practical tests
Which routine adjustments and service procedures are necessary and how to carry them out
Please note: A valid CITB Health, Safety & Environment test completed within the last two years is required for NPORS certification.
Upon successful completion of the course and assessments, operators will receive their CPCS Red Trained Operator Card, valid for two years. This certification demonstrates the holder’s capability to operate 360 degree excavators below 10 tonnes safely and effectively.
Trained Operator Card (RED)
The Trained Operator Card confirms a level of core skills, knowledge and understanding that can be applied in the workplace until measured as competent against national standards. Experienced and able operators may hold a Trained Operator Card whilst being measured against national standards through an SVQ or NVQ.
Once you’ve obtained your Red CPCS Trained Operator Card, it will last for 2 years. During these 2 years you must work towards and achieve your NVQ in Plant Operations to upgrade to a Blue CPCS Competence Card.
Competent Operator Card (BLUE)
The Competent Operator Card tells the observer that the holder has demonstrated a level of health and safety awareness through the CITB Health, safety and environment test, underpinning knowledge previously through a CPCS theory test, operating ability previously through a CPCS practical test and operating competence on the type of plant (evidenced by an SVQ or NVQ or employer confirmation of competence).
