(also known as a Class 2 vehicle)

What does the course involve?

Drivers’ Medical.

16-20 hours of practical training.

INITIAL CPC

All new HGV or PCV drivers must take and pass their Initial CPC in order to utilise their licence for hire or reward

What does the course involve?

Approximately 20 hours of study for theory test (Module 2).
Module 2 (Case Studies) test – a computer based 50 question multiple choice test.
4 hours of Initial CPC practical training.
Module 4 (Practical Demonstration) test – a practical safety test without any driving.

Who typically requires this licence type?

Anyone who drives a lorry, bus or coach as the main part of their job.
Exceptions include armed forces and emergency services drivers.
